Hi there! I'm Janani.

I’m working on my Master’s degree in Information Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in 2016 from the University of California at Santa Barbara, with a major in Global Studies and a minor in English. I decided to pursue a year of service as an AmeriCorps member with City Year. In my time there, working with elementary school students in an under-served community and observing the sheer amount of data that informed the program, I developed a passion for applying data to social good.

During my graduate studies, I’ve worked with a number of nonprofit organizations to help them meet their data needs – with a focus on data visualization, data collection methodology, metrics definition, and knowledge management. To learn to better serve client needs, I’ve also completed coursework in user experience research and design.
